Ahmad AlMughrabi is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science,
Universitat de Barcelona, Spain, and a member of the AIBA research group, supervised by
Petia Radeva and Ricardo Marques. His research applies neural radiance fields and 3D
reconstruction to accurate volume estimation of objects, with food and dietary assessment
as the driving application. He was a visiting researcher at the Technical University of
Munich (October 2025 - January 2026), and his team won the MetaFood workshop challenge at
CVPR 2024 and placed first in the MetaFood CVPR 2026 Challenge.
Before the PhD he spent more than ten years as a software engineer (Atypon, Glovo), working
in Java, Python, front-end and DevOps technologies. He received an Honours Master's degree
in Computer Science from the University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan, in 2020, and an Honours
BSc in Computer Science from Zarqa University, Zarqa, Jordan, in 2012.
